Three subjects- of creating “culture, study, love”
The GuangBo’s trade union promotes the group’s economic development
GuangBo News, journalist WeiYuqi. The trade union of the group has always been devoting itself to some detailed works such as protecting workers’ rights, welfare and development since it was founded. Through its many years’ hard work in the policy of ‘the big framework, conducting in detail’, the group has now initially been established to be a new industrialized company with three distinct subjects of “culture, study and love”. Consequently, the union has also acquired a good reputation from the general union in district and municipality.
The basic spirit of the general route about the trade union’s work made by the state federation of trade union is to unswervingly promote the enforcement of the principle of wholeheartedly depending on labor class to further reinforce the union’s function on defense. The defense that is taken attention by the union means not to only defend the whole benefit but the detailed benefit of employees that includes their economic benefit and democratic political rights and other legal rights and spiritual cultural benefit. At the same time, it also teaches and helps them to constantly improve the quality of thought, morality, science and knowledge. Through the series of actions, the union completely encourages the workers’ enthusiasm and creativity and applies them to promoting reform and development and defending stability.
After the union arranges its various works and makes its framework of the overall development, it always carries out its works around the principle of three defenses with the subject of “culture, study and love”.
Creating “GuangBo with culture”
The GuangBo Group is a new diversified company with stationery products as major industry whose notebook, album and account-keeping book are appreciated by a great number of customers. The group is actively forming GuangBo culture and closely connecting between cultural activities and worker’s rights, selectively and steadily carrying out the development of cultural GuangBo by plan.
When the union organizes some cultural activities, around the principle of ‘promoting development with culture, establishing culture with development’, it always closely connects between worker’s study of skills, security, entertainment and the group’s integral development, and considers some cultural activities such as playing basketball, entertainment party as part of the worker’s life and makes subjects and central content of these activities according to month and festivals to encourage everyone to take part in the activities and to make everyone get something meaningful.
“GuangBo View” is the transmitter of GuangBo’s culture. It aims to magnify GuangBo’s spirit and to develop GuangBo’s culture; inspire worker to study and promote GuangBo’s development. As a part and major media of GuangBo culture, it is a mirror of viewing the group’s development and growth. It functions as a bridge to connect between the inside and the outside world. It opens more channels to receive worker’s advice and adopts virtues from all quarters inside, and makes more friends and adopts virtues from all quarters outside. The two points embody the GuangBo’s cultural connotation-“wide space, broad heart”.
Constructing “study-oriented GuangBo”
If someone wants to grow up he must study constantly, so does a company. Formerly, we learned advanced management experience, marketing theory and company culture from those developed countries, but most of that are for top management. Nowadays, the study-oriented companies require that their staff study constantly and absorb knowledge in all aspects, which is also good to the companies. Therefore, while the GuangBo Group develops rapidly, it concentrates on the development of study-oriented talented people.
Considering the group’s integral improvement, the group set up the school for its employees at the end of 2002 and first referred to itself as the study-oriented company. To new employees, they must join the training on rules and job that made by the group and conducted by professional trainers. The content of training mainly includes the group’s regulation and rules, safety proceeding, propriety, what is more, the humane culture with its own characteristic that needs the employees to understand and study. In addition, the group conducts systematic and professional training to some operators for special positions and machines. For instance, the rubber printing workshop of printing branch sends the most of its workers to take training on printing technology annually and gradually form the study atmosphere of the old teaching the new and the pioneering teaching their followers. The group plans to conduct this kind of training 10 times every year and to assess its statisticians and warehouse supervisors on technology and ability, and to establish the competitive atmosphere that every one must study and work hard through setting up effective competitive system of employing only the outstanding and dismissing the good-for-nothing. At the same time, the group also set up library and provides its employees with a great number of professional books in order to meet the demand of them. Moreover, the group connects with some training companies that provide technical instruction of special jobs and operation for the workers, which makes 540 employees get the job certifications. The rate of emergency reduces largely and the productivity increases by more than 30%. The group also gets great achievement in scientific management, effective elusion and harmonious development and improves worker’s team sense and creative spirit.
The group cooperates with the labor sectors in district and municipality and some colleges that provide preference to those part-time students in order to further strengthen and deepen the cultivation of GuangBo’s study-oriented people. The measure makes the number of people with high school education who want to study in college increase to about 200. The profession involves economy, accounting and administration, etc. Some training for people with junior school education who are studying in high school also absorbs many people. Besides, the group also cultivates the comprehensive people for the group’s development through the cooperation with some colleges and universities in NingBo and ZheJiang and through setting up the GuangBo scholarship. The group has reached the agreements with some colleges such as ZheJiang Industrial and Commercial Profession College in cultivating its workers.
Constructing “GuangBo with love”
There is a collective called the Worker’s Fraternity, referring to mutual help and saving up love-hearts, in the GuangBo Industry Park. It was founded by the GuangBo Trade Union to solve worker’s difficulties in May 10th, 2002, and has gotten good reputation from most of the workers through more than one year’s practice.
When the journalist went to interview Mr.YuShuiwei, he was told that he had stayed at hospital and home for three years and two months. When mentioning this, he said feelingly that he never thought that guangbo had gotten sharply fast development, he was grateful for guangbo’s care and help to him in the three years and thanked GuangBo Fraternity.
“When I began working in GuangBo in 1993, it mainly made the business of color-printing. I was a cut-paper operator in process of color-printing”, YuShuiwei said to journalist He is an old employee in GuangBo and his wife works in another company, and their child had studied in a primary school.They lived very well under the slack condition of national economy. In the later half year of 1999, an unexpected disaster dropped in him. Due to long-term discomfort in abdomen, he went to see doctor and then was told that he had had hepatitis that is becoming hepatocirrhosis.
“the GuangBo Fraternity and leaders, thank you very much, it is now very difficult to find a job, I am very lucky that I can come back for work after I stay at home and hospital for three years”, YuShuiwei said sincerely to journalist, “I can get 10 yuan every month, which can solve my some small problems though without great effect. Whoever may have illness in future, he can get care from company as well as that from relatives. Now there sets up “Fraternity”which makes employees take after one another, and the sum of money will be return in proportion so long as the worker has worked in the group for one year.” It is said that since he was diagnosed hepatocirrhosis he has totally got 5000 yuan from the GuangBo Fraternity.
Maybe because different family has different difficulties, so everybody knows more the necessity and importance of mutual help. The Guangbo Fraternity is a collective that is willingly organized by the workers of the group. Everybody takes 10 yuan from his salary every month among them 20% of 10 yuan is donated to the Fraternity and 80% is deposited in individual account. Until now, almost all of employees take part in the Fraternity. In fact, everybody only donates 2 yuan per month. The Fraternity has six sub-fraternities into every branch factory and has established money-supervised group. The worker who takes part in the fraternity for one year enough will get the part of money in his own account if he leaves the group because of whatever reason.
By the end of Nov. 28th, 2003, the Guangbo Fraternity has totally received 367560 yuan, among them 163450 yuan was used in endowment and employee’s welfare. Saving up love heart, creating beautiful homestead. The Fraternity further develops Chinese traditional virtues such as union, struggling, friendship, cooperation, assistance, etc.
The GuangBo Trade Union has long worked well as a bridge between the group and its employees and established firm foundation for the GuangBo’s fast development in global economic integration and played a positive role in the development of the group and its employees. The union has gotten good reputation from various-leveled unions in the district and the city.
